Can anyone help me please?norton

advanced windows..its free.

i have spyware Doctor.

Can anyone help me please?spyware remover

go to start...Run...type in sysyem restore

Now roll back in time and you will get your control panel back.

As for the best free antivirus go with AVG
Avast Antivirus is a free program that you can download. You will just need to register it. It works great. As for the control panel try this, you can open the Run program (to do this press the "R" button whilst holding the "Windows" button) once the program comes up type "control" and press Enter. You will now have the control panel displayed in front of you. Now to make it readily accessible in your Start Menu all you need to do is right click the Start Menu and then left click Properties, now click on the Start Menu tab, and click the customize button. From here click on the Advanced tab and the first option should involve three radio buttons each pertaining to the Control Panel. The option you probably want is "Display as a menu". Good luck!
There are two ways to access the control panel. Click Start and it should be around the bottom. OR. Click my computer and it should be on the left column.

Go to download.com or cnet. You can download free antivirus software and they are good ones also.
ClamWin is the FREE anti-virus from Microsoft - it works great - updates everyday.

Start button should list CONTROL PANEL

or

Click on MY COMPUTER and Control Panel should be listed on the far left.
a good free anti-virus/spyware software is called Ad-Aware 2007.

just go to download.com and search for it. You should probably search in safe mode though to fully get rid of the virus's.

How to scan for a virus?

i read this thing that says to scan somehting with a anti virus program to make sur the program im downloading doesnt have a virus. it tells me ot dsave it to my comoputer and scan it first.. ok well i saved to to my computer and i have the anti virus program, how do i scan it to make sure it doesnt have any viruses...

heres the thing i read..

"You should scan all files you download with an antivirus program before you open them. When you download the file, you will be given the option to open the file immediately (Run) or to save the file to your computer before you open it. Save the file to your computer and scan it with an antivirus program before opening it."

Install the antivirus program. Do not open the file you want to scan. Right click on it and choose "scan file with ---antivirus" from drop-down menu. Do this with every downloaded file.

How to scan for a virus?spyware

You have to open your anti-virus system and do a full scan of your computer. For scanning individual files, right click on the file in Windows Explorer and there should be an option of scanning it with your anti-virus system. Once it is scanned and clean, you can open it.
You downloaded a virus that is an "antivirus program". Delete that idiot and empty it out of your recycle bin.

BitDefender is a good antivirus software to use. For spyware, use Ad-Aware.

About the other...Read.
Go to cnet. You`ll find the software there
http://free.grisoft.com/filedir/inst/avg...
The AOL You're Talking About Is Called The AOL Active Virus Shield.

It has A 99.62% Detection Rate Which Is Extremely Good.

But Sadly AOL Has Replaced This Great Product With A Crappy McAfee Internet Security Suite And Is Not Availabe TO Download Nomore.

AVG Has A 82.82% Which Is Fairy Good.

It has Quick Updates And Doesnt Take Alot Of RAM.

Opinions on p2p programs like Limewire and Mp3 Rocket?

Are there ANY good games on these programs that don't have viruses on them? Because so far it seems every game i download from there makes a warning pop up from my antivirus software the second it finishes downloading. Just wonderin.

Opinions on p2p programs like Limewire and Mp3 Rocket?panda

Look for ones that are several hundred MB in size(Thousands of KB's). If they are very small files and only take a second to download, this is a sign they are a virus.

You should be very careful downloading games from p2p programs. They do contain viruses and nasties that we all don't want.

No Anti Virus, Firewalls, why does one comp recognise a firewall and another not?

My boyfriend and I have similar set ups on our computers at the moment, both running without antivirus (his ran out and mine was not on the internet until recently. The problem is we both play World of Warcraft and when downloading patches his doesnt register a firewall, but mine does. The window's XP firewall isnt set up on either system, so why do I have a firewall and he doesnt?

No firewalls, no anti-virius ... and now some-one saying 'put in on the DMZ'.

Do you know long it is before an unprotected PC is hi-jacked ? Answer about 15 mins.

I bet your PC's have every virus known to man and are allready sending virus loaded emails to all your friends - and I bet every keystroke is being copied to some scum in Nigeria and you don't even know it ...

I hope you don't use your PC for eBay, on-line banking, email or anything else that requires a user name/password because these will already be in the hands of the criminals.

It's like leaving you front door open and putting up a big sign "come in and look around" .. when your Bank Accounts are empty and you Credit Cards are maxed out by some-one in Lagos or Moscow, don't come crying here

Would it be alright if I deleted an infected file myself?

I was downloading a movie off Morpheus the other day, and every since then my computer has been freezing and turning off. I've restored twice already and my computer still isn't working properly. I've ran several different spyware/virus deleting programs and I keep getting this "Alexa" file popping up, and the spyware programs say that it's deleted, but when I run another program it says it's still there.. so could I just go ahead and find the file in Windows and delete it? Or would that just cause problems? I'm not too bright when it comes to computers, so any help at all would be muchly appreciated! Thanks so much!

By the way, I've tried to run Norton AntiVirus on safemode and normal mode, but my computer keeps freezing and then turning off half way through the scan! ;(

Alexa is installed with internet explorer when you install windows (i think).. It has long been suspected as spyware and should be deleted.

You don't need to remove any peer 2 peer apps as long as you practice safe computing (Good firewall, Antivirus, anti-spyware and regualar updating of windows, don't open attachments/files from untrusted sources).

System restore is flawed. If you remove any spyware from your pc and the spayware was present in the config of your System restore the Spyware will be active again, if your anti-spyware software didn't remove it from system restore.

Safe Downloads =S ?

http://download.drweb.com/drweb+antiviru...

Are those two links safe to download from? :S

My friends told me they use those sites all the time but they have had viruses before on their computers and I dont want them!

Thanks to all who answer :]

Safe Downloads =S ?pop up blocker

Yes, it's safe to use, although the second link: DrWeb, is known for false positives. SiteAdvisor is a very useful tool to have when browsing on the net. Before entering a site, regardless if the icon is green, click on the icon, and you can see the downloads, the links to other sites and the reviewers. It's not perfect, but it allows you to take a peek behind the door without seriously getting infected.

Your friends got infected because of the lack of knowledge and ignorance, It's got nothing to do with the programs failing to protect them. I know this is starting to sound like a stuck needle on a record, but this is the reason for the rise of infections - human error. You must have safe and responsible surfing habits for you not to get infected (steer clear of torrent sites), and also make sure that your browser applications, Java, and flash players are fully up to date, along with Microsoft updates being switched on and up to date too.

Safe Downloads =S ?systemworks

Both of these have shaky reputations, great places to get rogue anti-spyware which lies about infections to get a subscription, then refuse to get off the machine amongst others.
