I have norton anitivirus but its not working?

urgent attention comes up saying mcafee virusscan is not working in my norton antivirus .....so i downloaded AVG to fix the problem......thing is i would use AVG only but i am payed for with nortons for another year.......why is the urgent attention popup coming up if mcafee is totally different than norton....its coming up in the norton popup saying that mcafee is not working....what should i do....go with norton or AVG. dont want to lose money....but like i said norton isnt working because of that popup
