Why wont my bearshare/limewire connect to the network?

Ive tried several music download programs and none of them can connect, while my friends have these programs and they work fine on their computers. I have norton antivirus and firewall, but i have configured both not to block these programs. if anyone could help that would be wonderful. Thanx

check your internet connection
your firewall is blocking it. if that doesn't work try going to file the click on connection
