Downloading patches?

in some sites like astlavista or similar ones i see patches/crack files written by people very small size available for d/l. curiosity driven, i downloaded these files and try to run antivirus scan on them and nothing was detected. then i click on these application files and nothing happened(like "nothing happened" at all),

even though nothing happened after i click on these applications, i have a feeling something must have happened... what could have possibly happened after i click on these small applications?

Usually you have to go to my computer, choose the drive where your program files are, which is usually the c drive, find the program's folder, and then copy the patch into it. Then it should patch the program you are trying to fix.
