Ok, first off, I have Windows XP Home, a newish PC (I'm here for help, not cos I know my PC inside out, but if you need further info, just ask and I'll try and find out), and run PC-Cillin as my antivirus.
I've been foolishly downloading some games from Limewire, and have relied on PC-Cillin to tell me whether they were clean or infected before opening the zipped files - it seemed to be doing a good job of filtering out the bad stuff. Apparently not as good as I first thought, because a couple of times csrss.exe has tried to connect to the net only to be blocked by my firewall. And upon looking into things, I had 2 of those files on my PC; one in the System 32 Folder where it should be, the other a bogus. So I killed the process and deleted the .exe file and it seems to be gone.
But the fact that got through and PC-Cillin didn't pick it up made me worried, so I went to run a scan with it... and the scanner opens, scans a few files, and then the scan window closes, as if I've crossed the window off. It won't do more than a few seconds scan before quitting. Apart from resetting my PC just to make sure it wasn't just being temperamental, I've since downloaded AVG and found, well, several trojans sitting in those Limewire files, and got rid of them, hoping one of them might be what's blocking PC-Cillin from working. No luck. According to AVG my PC is now clean, but PC-Cillin is still doing the quit thing. I'm not running both simultaneously, either, because I know that can cause problems.
