Something is getting downloaded on my pc for a very long time .what to do ?

first i had'nt installed any antivirus. so a icon in red in my system kept on reminding me to install a antivirus .

so installed AVG antivirus.

it told me that it has to contact the internet to download some updates . i clicked 'OK'

i did'nt notice anything for sometime.

after some time the red icon had turned yellow and when i move the cursor over the icon, it tells downloading updates 1%

after 2 days it telling me...downloading updates 5% completed.

nothing happens when i right or left click that yellow icon.

what should i do ??

reboot your system.. and try installing any antispyware solution
Obviously the download is hung up. You shouldn't have waited 2 days, but now that you have, all you can do is reboot the computer. You surely have a boot button, or some way of doing a warm boot. Turn it off, wait a while and turn it back on. Uninstall AVG and get Avast instead. It updates daily in just a few seconds.

Since you are downloading updates for an antivirus program, it shouldn't take that long to download. I would restart your system and then open the program and try to download updates manually if you can. If the problem still continues I would try and resinstall the program or get a different program.
uninstall the program, then try to reinstall it agian and see what happens
