Why won't MSN messenger work?

I have downloaded MSN messenger and it will not work. I get the following message when I try to use it:

"you need to upgrade your version of MSN messenger"

and I know I have got the latest version.

Why is this happening to me? I do have Norton antivirus - is it because of this? Ta muchly.

windows live messenger 8.5 is the latest----messenger 9 is a beta program as yet.You can download all versions from "UNDERGROUND.COM"
did you download msn from microsoft or somewhere else, just checking

Its because you actually need windows live messenger now - MSN messenger does not exist anymore!
because now you have to pay for t drop me a line i will send you an email tha is in my inbox also answer this
