i have zonealarm internet security but some people tells me the anti virus is **** so is there another antivirus that i can use just to scan certian files i get sent or that i download and it not be on all the time.

you can run it to check for viruses, with a choice of what drives and files to scan

it also has real-time modules, but they do not all load into memory automatically. Browsing, Email and P2P downloading can be protected separately, by turning them on or off from an icon. This gives protection just for what you are doing this moment. and they can all be turned off if you are working offline, which frees up a lot of memory

Yes, there is such an antivirus.

For something like this, I would recommend ClamWin. It does not have a real time scanner, so you have to select files manually.
